Welcome to Wolf Lake Memorial Park

New docks installed at Wolf Lake by Hammond Port Authority

The Hammond Port Authority assumed management of Wolf Lake Memorial Park in January of 2006. Historically, Wolf Lake was part of a complex of shallow lakes, wetlands, and beach ridges and was directly connected to lake Michigan. Fed by springs, Wolf Lake's surface covers more that 804 acres today.

Today, the lake attracts fisherman and hunters, as well as being a place where local residents go to relax, recreate and ride the wind.

In addition to the beach area, Wolf Lake also has a playground and picnic area equipped with covered shelters and grills.

DIRECTIONS TO WOLF LAKE MEMORIAL PARK

From Chicago - take Dan Ryan Expressway (I-94) south to the Indiana Toll road (Chicago Skyway I-90) south. Stay in the local lanes, because the exit is a 63rd St. Take the skyway approximately 8 miles to the Indianapolis/106th Street exit. Exit and go straight ahead about 1 mile to the Calumet Avenue. Turn right and go approximately 3 miles to Wolf Lake

From Western Suburbs - Take I-80 east toward Indiana. Just past the Illinois/Indiana border is the Calumet Avenue exit. Take Calumet Avenue North. Go approximately 6 miles to the entrance of Wolf Lake.

From the East - Take I-90 west to Calumet Avenue. Go north on Calumet Avenue approximately 2 miles to the Wolf Lake Entrance.
